First of all, what a clever advertisement. It honestly catches your attention just like that. You read one word and you just have to read the rest. Even though the message is obviously inappropiate and ridiculous, it is quite hilarious. It's not surprising that the person who is in this ad is well, a woman. Even today, most of those 'lose weight, get skinny' ads are directed to women. Although, men seem to be following right behind them.

Now this one obviously depicts that, if you were one to smoke, you would be considered 'irresistible'. I mean, nowadays (especially 'some' teenagers), think that the whole idea of smoking is 'cool'. Even with everyone telling you all the negative effects and diseases you can get from smoking, people still do it. They probably think that they're Mr. Hotshot with their yellow teeth and horrible breath.

Another ad about smoking? It's pretty obvious that smoking was a 'fad' back in the 1950's and 1960's. Well, not only is it promoting smoking, but it's also promoting a brand, which doctors recommend. That's quite odd in my opnion. Doctor's recommending things that are unhealthy? I'm so used to the idea of 'doctor recommended' toothpaste, cough medicine, etc. So the fact that they used doctors about, 50 to 60 years ago for these types of adverisements makes you wonder, were the doctors doing their job or what? What were they thinking, recommending such a disgusting object?

My thoughts exactly! What in the world is lard? And why would people eat it? I honestly have no idea. With all these ridiculous ads before this one, I'd rather not know. Although, the family does seem quite happy because they eat 'lard', whatever that is.
So, something was clearly wrong in the 1950's. Not only did they do such absurd things to get the perfect figure they want, they used to eat things like 'lard'. I think that, because of their lack of censorship or the idea of what good health really meant, these types of advertisements were allowed and published. Sometimes, I can't tell whether or not these advertisements were a joke, or if they were really being serious and tried to sell a product. I mean, if those types of ads were to run in the year of 2010, no one's going to take it seriously. Society might not have been corrupted, but they did have a, 'lack of judgement'. They probably didn't know any better. They didn't even have HD T.V.'s yet, let alone a coloured television set in every house.
P.S. I decided to look up what 'lard' was after I have finished my response. Just because my reaction to the ad would be based on a first impression type. So I learned, it was a type of fat from pigs. I mean, we eat pork, but it's completely unecessary and not to mention unhealthy, to advertise that 'pig fat' makes you happy.
YUCK.
