so that's why you look so pretty on facebook

I am currently, laughing out loud. First of all, it's amazing how someone could look so "perfect" after a few touch-ups from photoshop. I mean, did you see the difference? It's honestly so cool. Second, I don't really care about those models or people in the magazine. They were made for our entertainment purposes anyways. Those types of magazines were made for 'glammed up' people. You can't just take that away, because then, there would be no purpose for that magazine. Everyone knows about inner beauty and that it's not always about how you look. So why bother changing the entire face of models, celebrities and magazines? It's just the way it is. They're all just doing their job. I don't see any of this as an issue. It's up to the readers of those particular magazines to realize that, things aren't always as they seem.

You go Lindsay Lohan!

  1. I agree with how you said, "Those types of magazines were made for 'glammed up' people. You can't just take that away, because then, there would be no purpose for that magazine." Models are there to simply do they're job by looking pretty and be photo shopped to get a picture perfect. Magazines are there to entertain people and yes I agree that there would be no purpose for that magazine if you take that away."

  2. First, LOL at that photo, she looks ....great. Anyways, I totally agree with you when you say that these people are just doing their job as a model. There's really no point in magazines without these people looking so barbie doll perfect on the cover. Everyone should know that they're beautiful on the inside, and that's what counts!

  3. I didn't think of it the way you thought of it, until now. I guess it is just the way it is because that's how society works. Magazines are meant to be unreal versions of people, exploring unnatural areas. I agree with you when you say everybody has heard of inner beauty and its just "ehh" now but photoshopping is like a new era of the media world.

You see, that's the problem. To many, it's all about how you look. Though people might be aware of the existance inner beauty- for many, inner beauty does not mean anything. That's why photoshopping to make one look ~flawless~ is not a good thing and is, in fact, an issue. Teenagers, especially the ones in the early teenage years, flip through magazines idolizing these celebs and how perfect they do look. They, too, feel compelled to look perfect. The only thing is, as shown through your example, that type of perfection in non-existant, and shouldn't be desired. Instead, people should accept their flaws- not as imperfecions, but as part of who they are. Magazines should emphasize the importance of inner beauty instead of outter. And it does effect many, many people. People desire this perfection so much -they resort to changing themselves through things like plastic surgery.

http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_pla_sur_pro_percap-plastic-surgery-procedures-per-capita shows how many people (on average) get plastic surgery in a certain country. In Switzerland, over one fifth of the country decide to have plastic surgery. And I, personally, find that really saddening.

Haha, to each their own. :D
